Latest Update

Well, its been a while since I have posted.  Not much time available to get on the computer and when I do have that chance, I need to really focus on the candy wrapping side of life, especially since I plan on doing some craft shows in the fall.

CJ got his first ear infection this week, but his pediatrician feels that it is due to the fact that his upper eye teeth are coming in.  So we are on the wonderful amoxocillian (sp) for 10 days, but not a big deal he likes the taste.  At least his ear infections are nothing like DJ’s were when he was little, he would throwup, hit a 104 degree fever and cry cry cry.  CJ, just hot.

DJ got his birthday present early, we got him another phone since his went for a swim in the pool.  He has been very patient in not asking for a phone and I need to be able to get in touch with him when he is out or I am out so he got a razor….told him that this one breaks, goes for a swim, etc., its on him to replace.

Hard to believe that DJ turns 14 next Saturday.  Not sure where the years have gone, but they have been 14 great years.  All in all he’s a good kid, not really given us too much trouble.  Hopefully we can get through the highschool years without a lot of drama.

Highschool, well ain’t it grand….DJ and I have a 5 hour – yes I said it, 5 hour orientatation next week for incoming freshman…what are they going to tell us in 5 hours?  Am I going to be able to concentrate on what they are going to tell us for 5 hours?  On top of that, DJ’s orientation and my orientation are two different orientation….aaaarrrggghhh….

Poor MJ has been stuck inside – no pool – for two weeks.  Her room is an absolutle pig stye that she has been working on and I have told her no pool until it is clean.  It was clean the week after school, but she is super lazy and doesn’t like to put anything away.  My mom thinks she likes to see all her stuff which is why its always out.  Well, thats fine and dandy, but I don’t want to see all her stuff….hopefully before the end of the summer we will make it to the pool again.  Who knows?

Where are these now?

4th of July

It was a fun filled night as always.  We packed up and went to the small town of Rolesville, NC.  We have been going there for quite a few years and are always happy with the results.  This small town puts on fireworks and the entry into the event is done by donation – so whatever you are comfortable giving is great.  They always have food vendors, games for the kids and the last two years they have had bouncy things for them as well.  And the watermelon is always FREE.

The weather could not have been more perfect.  It started out hot and humid but storms were blowing in during the evening hours so there was a nice breeze to cool the weather down.  They did start the fireworks early because of the storms, but the weather held out and it was a great display as always.

This was CJ’s first fireworks and we were worried about how he would do with the loud noises, but just like the other two when they were young, the loud noises didn’t bother him at all.  He was quite happy to sit on my lap and watch.  The evening of fun has tired him out.  He woke up this morning at 5 drank a bottle, played about a 1/2 hour then went back to sleep at 9:00.  He woke up again and a 1/2 hour later he is sleeping.  Good day for mom so far.

More later!

This week…

as I said we survived the in-laws visit and have just been spending a nice relaxful remainder of the week at the pool and just having fun.  It hasn’t been that hot here in NC, we’ve seen worse, and we go to the pool early in the morning and stay till mid afternoon, so the heat isn’t too bad.

Yesterday was a little hotter than normal, but that could be because I exposed myself to 3 days of sunshine and have a nice “burn” going.  So, today, MJ is inside cleaning her room which was suppose to be done the week after school left out, and I’ll be toning down the burn a little.  This way, we can spend the weekend at the pool.

I do believe though that if I let CJ go in the pool, he would swim.  He loves his float but sometimes he wants to get out and be held and he automatically puts himself on his stomach and kicks.  I remember when I had the other kids in infant swim classes we were always putting them under the water and they didn’t mind.  I would do that with CJ, but there are always other moms there and I have a feeling they would object if I dunked my 7 month old son.  But, maybe this weekend with Craig at the pool with us, I’ll see what CJ does…maybe he’ll just swim.  I know wishful thinking, but you never know.

MJ is finally gotten swimming down, it sure insn’t pretty, but she has it.  I was going to enroll her in private swim lessons this year, but I don’t think she’ll need them, just lots of time at the pool.

DJ – well we can’t pull him away from the computer, so he doesn’t go up to the pool with us at all.  Plus he’s 13 and lord help him if he is seen with his parents….who knows what will happen, one of his friends might see him.  Yikes!!

Back to normal

Well, the visit with the in-laws went well.  It was nice to see them after all this time.  North Carolina behaved and gave us nice weather, some rain, but very mild compared to what we had seen a few weeks ago.  Mild being mid 80’s.

Luckily we weren’t running all over trying to see exhibits and do things, they were happy this time to just sit and visit with the kids, which is highly unusual.  MJ was the happiest of all the kids to see her grandparents, she really loves them a lot and misses them.  DJ well he was only interested in using the computer which is not unusual.  CJ just happy pulling himself up.

Hopefully the in-laws have realized that they are missing alot and will visit each year on their way back from Florida.  But, time can only tell.

CJ has learned to pull himself up and is now pulling up on everything.  We have all sorts of bruises and bumps on our head, but as long as he can stand he’s happy.  This is what happens when we expose him to his cousin GI…who is 3 months older than CJ.  CJ has to do what GI is doing….(joking sis).

Well, thats about it for now…later.

the inlaws are coming…for a weekend.  Man oh man…don’t know whether to be thrilled about their visit this weekend or not.  Its been about 6 years since the have seen their grandchildren – they live in Wisconsin and we of course live in North Carolina.

Its not that I don’t like them, they are great people, I just wish that they would visit more often, especially since they are in Florida every winter and drive there.  I realize that Florida to North Carolina to Wisconsin is not exactly a direct route, but they are retired and could fit us in.  I also know they would rather us visit them in Wisconsin since that is where Craig is from and the majority of his brothers and sisters as well as his parents live there, but lets face it, airfare for 5 plus a rental car is not truly in the budget right now.

I am slightly aggreviated that all they could spare is a two day visit.  After all, they are retired, have no work obligations.  I know that they are having to stay at a hotel, but that is their choice and the room has been comp’t for free.  Its not like they have seen the kids every year, it has been 6 years after all, and they haven’t meet CJ yet.

But oh well….at least they made the effort this year.  I am sure we will hear, so when will you be coming to Wisconsin next?  Not…made that trip twice already…

Almost a week…

since I last made a blog entry…well no one every said I was going to stay on top of things, plus who’s reading my blog?  Don’t think anyone is, but time will tell.

School is officially out for the summer.  DJ skipped the last two days of school (with mom’s knowledge), whats the purpose of just sitting in a classroom and doing nothing.  All books are turned in, they had 8th grade fun day the previous Friday so there was no reason for him to go, so being the wonderful mother (LOL) that I am I let him stay home for those last two days.   Of course he wasn’t the only one, he spend those two days online with his fellow classmates chatting away.

MJ had fun her last two days of school, especially the last one.  She had a special outfit all picked out and had made graduation cards for everyone in her classroom and handed them out.  She was so excited about summer starting, but is paying the price of not keeping her room clean, her first two days of summer are being spend taking care of that.  I told her that there would be no pool or fun until the mess of a room was taken care of.  Lets see if she gets it done today…doubt it, but you never know.

CJ is starting to pull himself up on things, so hes only been crawling for about 2 weeks now, and hes decided that we need to figure out how to walk…have a feeling I’m in lots of trouble with this one.

Well, thats about it for now, will post more later!

I had thought of using this blog as both personal and business, but have now changed my mind.  Isn’t that always the way?  So, Carolina Candy Wraps, now has it own blog.  www.carolinacandywraps.wordpress.com.  Now and then I will post information here about Carolina Candy Wraps, but the main blog will have all the updates and information about our products.

I think it is best to keep personal and business blogs seperate…

I am sharing this blog with you because it makes you think.  This is an on-line friend of mine, at least I consider him a friend, and he has been a great help to me throughout the last few years.  He has assited me greatly in learning Photoshop and never fails to share his knowledge.  I have never know him to have a negative word for anyone.  The Lights of Darkstar blog will make you think, and wonder, and ponder every day thoughts.

Enjoy and thank you Ralph for always being willing to help and make us think.
